At Piperton United Methodist Church, everyone is welcome to worship, serve, and grow in faith. Service takes many forms, and our lay leadership—members of the congregation called to lead—offer their time and talents to support the life and mission of the church. Strong, healthy leadership is essential to the effectiveness of any organization, and our church is no exception.
The Church Council serves as the primary planning and coordinating body of Piperton UMC. It oversees the church’s ministry areas of nurture, outreach, witness, and resource management. The Council is composed of the chairs from all other church committees, working together to guide and support the church’s mission.

Following Sammy’s passing in 2023 and her own courageous battle with cancer, Vicki stepped into a new role of leadership—becoming Worship Chair and Music Director after the loss of our beloved former leader. Vicki’s musical talent is an inspiration to all who know her, and her faith shines through in every note she plays and every task she takes on. She continues to praise God daily for the blessings in her life and the strength to serve Him through music and ministry.
This committee is responsible for identifying and developing spiritual leaders within the congregation. Members of the committee commit to growing in their own faith and leadership while discerning and supporting others who are called to serve. Each year, the Nominations and Lay Leadership Committee prayerfully selects individuals to serve in various leadership roles. Their recommendations are brought to the Charge Conference in the fall and, once approved, new leaders begin their service on January 1. Leadership terms typically last three years, and new members serve alongside continuing leaders to ensure continuity and support.
